Human-centered Design of a Rapid HPV Test for Cervical Cancer Screening in Underserved Populations
Dr. Natalia Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, and Associate Director of Population Health and Health Equity at the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering. Dr. Rodriguez earned Bachelors degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biology from M.I.T., a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University, and a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her postdoctoral training in the Medical Devices Unit of the World Health Organization.
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the design and implementation of rapid diagnostic tests to address health disparities. By meaningfully engaging underserved communities in translational science, her lab is developing participatory methodologies to increase adoption of technological innovation, empower community health workforces, and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
