Adherence to Dietary and Lifestyle Guidelines and Cancer Risk and Survival
Dr. Marji McCullough is a Senior Scientific Director of Epidemiology Research in the Department of Population Science at the American Cancer Society (ACS). She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Emory University in the Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health in Rollins School of Public Health, and in the Nutrition and Health Sciences program in the Laney Graduate School. She serves on the committees for the ACS Guidelines on Nutrition and Physical Activity for Cancer Prevention and for Cancer Survivors.
McCullough is co-PI of the ACS’s Cancer Prevention Study-II cohort, a prospective cohort of 1.2 million adults in the United States, and is a co-investigator of the Cancer Prevention Study-3, the ACS’s contemporary nationwide cohort of over 300,000 adults. She oversees nutrition-related exposure assessment and validation in the cohorts, and investigates the relationship of diet and cancer risk and survival, using both survey data and blood-based biological markers. Her research focuses on the areas of vitamin D, dietary patterns and adherence to diet and physical activity guidelines in relation to cancer risk and survival.
She received her B.S. in Dietetics at Michigan State University, M.S. in Clinical Dietetics from MGH Institute of Health Professions and Sc.D. in Nutrition from the Harvard School of Public Health.
