Challenges in the Clinical Management of Women at Risk for Ovarian Cancer
Barbara Norquist, M.D., is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and assistant professor at the University of Washington, in Seattle, WA. She is the medical director of the University of Washington/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s Breast and Ovarian Cancer Prevention Program, and is part of national guideline panels including the American Society of Clinical Oncology Expert Panel on Germline and Somatic Testing in Ovarian Cancer, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast and Ovarian Panel. Her clinical duties include the care of women at increased risk of ovarian cancer due to genetic susceptibility, as well as caring for those with known or suspected gynecologic malignancies. Her research interests are focused on inherited ovarian cancer, the role of genes other than BRCA1 and BRCA2 to ovarian cancer risk, and molecular strategies for early detection. Her goals are to identify improved strategies for the prevention and treatment of ovarian cancer through genetic biomarkers.
Dr. Norquist received her M.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. She also completed a Fellowship, Residency and Internship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology there. In 2014, Dr. Norquist was recognized as a "Top Doctor" in Seattle Met magazine's annual survey.
