Dr. Linda Ko is a behavioral scientist and the director of the Hutch’s Health Communication Research Center, or HCRC. Her expertise involves the development, testing, evaluation and dissemination of health communication strategies to promote health equity. Her work draws from the disciplines of communication, marketing, social epidemiology and social behavioral sciences. She aims to understand a community’s behavior within the socio-cultural context, develop interventions that will address those behaviors, and translate scientific knowledge through community engagement. Her HCRC projects range from creating culturally appropriate cancer screening communication tools for populations with limited English proficiency to instituting community-wide obesity prevention campaigns for rural communities in Washington state.
