All Cancer Prevention Fellows are required to attend the NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention during their first full summer at NCI. The curriculum has two courses, which are also open to the general scientific community worldwide.

Principles & Practice of Cancer Prevention & Control Course

Dates: July 13 - August 7, 2020

Participants in this four-week summer course will gain a broad-based perspective on concepts, issues, and applications related to this field.


Molecular Cancer Prevention Course

Dates: August 10 - August 14, 2020

This one-week course follows the Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control course. It provides a strong background about molecular biology and genetics of cancer, and an overview of cutting-edge research and techniques.

NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention faculty consists of approximately 85 leading scientists at NCI, NIH, other government agencies, universities, cancer centers, and public and private organizations throughout the United States. The courses are designed to provide an interactive training experience to allow participants to develop a thorough knowledge about cancer prevention and control.

Every year, the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program (CPFP) hosts the NCI Summer Curriculum featuring two courses: The Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control and the Molecular Prevention Course. The program provides a multidisciplinary overview of the principles and practices of cancer prevention and control from both the public health and the basic biology perspectives.
